BRDL

BRDL is a version of Wordle for people who like birds. Each day, you can only use the name of a bird to solve the puzzle. The mystery word doesn't have to be five letters long like it does in Wordle. It was made by the well-known graphic designer Alex Tomilson. Fans of Wordle are in for a new test. The strip code for this game is sometimes hard to figure out.

In this game, the player has to figure out the four-letter code scientists use to shorten the names of species (as in GREG for the great stork and MODO for the mourning pigeon).

What does a bird code mean?
In North America, strip codes can have four or six letters. There are four letters in both bird codes and strip codes. The most important thing to remember about the BRDL is that the codes come from the official Bird Strip Lab and follow a set of rules that are explained below.

When there's only one word in a name, the code is the first four letters.

OSPR stands for OSPREY.

GYRFALCON: GYRFALCON

When a bird's name is made up of two words, the first two letters of each word are used in the code.
MODO'S DOVE MOURNING

Greg is an AMAZING Stork.

CONI is a famous NIGHTHAWK.

When there are three words, it gets harder to do. In this case, the code is made up of the first letter of each of the first two words and the first two letters of the third.
GREAT GREEN HERON is what GBHE stands for.

PEARL CLOTHING: CCSP

If a three-word name ends with a hyphen, like in the example below, the first two letters of the name and the first letter of each second word should be used.
The short form of FLORIDA SCRUB-JAY is FLSJ.

Lastly, if the name is made up of four words, the code is the first letter of each word, even if they are separated by a hyphen.
